Wat Mahatat, Chaiya

Two of the many Buddha statues in the courtyard at Wat Phra Boromathat in Chaiya. These images have been restored by being painted gold and black; as Chaiya has a largely tropical climate, within a few years they will again be nicely aged. Just as the laypeople of Thailand offer robes to the monks, so do they dress the statues, changing their robes with each change of the seasons.
